Tech Visits
2-6 hrs/cohort*

Mentorship
~1-2 hrs/week
Volunteers can support
program participants
throughout their
four-week training in a
range of activities
including (but not
limited to):
○ 30-sec elevator
pitches
○ Resume reviewing
○ Mock interviewing
○ LinkedIn profiles
○ Confidence building
exercises
Group volunteering is
strongly welcomed!
This is where a team of
up to 12 may come in
for one day (or more!)
and help facilitate a
class.
Activities can include,
any of the
aforementioned
individual volunteering
activities.
Our participants get
enormous value from
seeing what it’s like in a
tech workplace.
Tech visits can be more
than just a tour! We find
that visits are most
valuable when
combined with other
ways to get to know a
company’s team — e.g.
career panel, Q&A, or
networking lunch.
For those looking to
share their photography
skills, our participants
are looking to set their
career search off on
strong footing. But often
times they lack a
professional headshot.
A mentor provides
one-on-one support, as
needed, to a program
participant.
Discussions between
mentors and mentees
can cover a variety of
topics, ranging from
career advice and skill
building to social,
emotional, or
interpersonal
challenges.
* Cohorts for the Job Readiness Program are 4 weeks long.

Volunteer Opportunities — Code Ramp/Code Ramp++
Requires Evening or Weekend Availability. All classes are held remotely until further notice.

Instructor
1 night/week
Teaching Assistant
1 night/week
Mentor
~2-4 hrs/week
Tutor
~1-2 hrs/week
Code Ramp instructors are in
charge of presenting or
reinforcing new concepts and
supporting students in building
their understanding of
previously introduced topics.
In addition to direct student
interaction, you’ll be working
with the rest of the teaching
team to decide how to best
support students on their
learning path.
Teaching assistants help guide
students during their coding
exercises, which typically make
up at least 2⁄3 of class time. In
addition to providing help to
students when stuck on a
coding challenge, TAs are
providing reviews and tips to
improve code quality.
TAs also provide valuable
insight and input along with the
instructors to determine how
to best support students.
Mentors play a huge role in
guiding students who are more
advanced in their coding
studies, helping them refine
their skills and prepare for the
workforce.
This role supports students
who have completed the initial
6-week program and show a
dedicated interest in
programming as a career path.
Tutoring is a great fit for
volunteers who are more
interested in 1:1 interaction
and building a relationship
with a student, or for those
who cannot volunteer during
the classroom hours.
We pair students 1:1 with a
tutor if they need help catching
up on a lesson they missed or
reviewing a topic they feel
behind on.
* Cohorts for Code Ramp and Code Ramp++ are 6 weeks long.
